Welcome to the Family, Free-Market, and Future Friendly Action Committee

The Family, Free-Market, and Future Friendly Action Committee is a political group that is committed to supporting a wide range of conservative causes which advance individual freedom and social harmony. It plays an important role in the politics of our nation by holding meetings, hosting fundraising gatherings, and disseminating information.

The F4 Action Committee has consistently reiterated its full support of conservative quests for effective, lean, and focused governance. In accordance with our mission, the group likewise seeks low taxes, a government in full control of every aspect of leading the country, strong families, free enterprise, and a formidable national defense.

We are center-right – rejecting the alt-right, the mediocre middle, and the far left/antifa/socialists.  We are informed by spiritual/information-based considerations as well as material.  We know that identity politics is the source of much ill in the past and believe that it continues to be a problem.  We presume tradition exists for valid reasons but are constantly looking for new ways to improve on them.  That is the true progressive philosophy advocated by Theodore Roosevelt and his contemporaries.  We find that people are liberal because of ill-informed compassion but tend to become conservative as they get older and more experienced.

We are people-centric, not beltway centric.  We critique both our own side and those we disagree with in ways that seek unity rather than blame, labels, and division.  We combine data-driven and principle-driven decisions.

The group extends its invitation for new members to all citizens and aspiring citizens in the United States. It does not have any restrictions on members. We welcome people regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, or gender.  We strive to be winsome as we speak truth to power.

Below are 10 tests to apply to any policy position. These fall into the three categories of People, Processes, and Products.  People includes leaders, bureaucrats, and the citizens.  Processes includes inputs, functions, and outputs.  Products must be measurable.  They include both numerators and denominators. We invite everyone in Potomac District to advocate for use of the below tests in assessing the ever growing list of public policy proposals.

 PEOPLE

1. Does it encourage a healthy level of conscientiousness and community? Conscientiousness is the most decisive factor in health and overall happiness and community is an important but  distant second. Public policy  must reinforce (and avoid eroding) the conscientiousness of individual citizens. It must also encourage the resilient networks which provide support in challenging times. Culture eats strategy for breakfast.

2. Will it work based on the skill sets of the average person implementing the solution? Results will be disappointing if based on a higher or lower than expected capacity on the part of those executing a policy and/ or those receiving the benefits of the policy. If the solution is based on an institution it has a greater chance of success than if based on a specific personality.

3. Is it characterized by optimism? (vs pessimism or resignation) Poor choices can be overcome by determination. Wise choices can be ruined by eroded morale.

4. Does it characterize opponents as misguided rather than demonizing them? This also includes condescending attitudes. A good solution may fail if advanced in a demeaning manner toward opponents or neutral observers. A belief in limited government does not require demeaning public servants writ large.  We must reject bad policies, not people.  We must embrace only good policy but for the benefit of all.

5. Does it allow for both rights and responsibilities to be held as the lowest level possible? What is the threshold to assume responsibility by any echelon above the individual ? No one wants to be micromanaged in the workplace. Why should we expect that in public policy?

 PROCESSES

6. Does it incorporate a model of sustainability? We must not mortgage our children’s future for programs which demand an increase in per capita resources each year. Sustainability is not just environmental but also with respect to personal habits, the economy, the population, and the community.

7. Does it draw from the best ideas in history rather than the latest fads or some tradition? This is the essence of conservative philosophy. It avoids chronological snobbery. We should not be so non-judgmental that we loose our sense of good judgement.  We assume that traditions exist for valid reasons but are open to the idea that they can be improved upon.

8. Does it avoid creating other problems when solving the primary issue? The law of unintended consequences has condemned many a plan. Always ask where the underlying principles may be at odds with each other.

 PRODUCTS

9. Does the policy assume progress as the movement from one fixed point or standard to another? Modern progressives generally reject the idea of a fixed standard of good and therefore cannot define what progress means. True progressive embrace means of distinguishing progress. To achieve this government must focus on its core competencies and not be distracted by peripheral issues.

10. Does the policy acknowledge the essential character of the “dismal science”? Economics involves hard choices in which there are often relative winners and losers. Any approach that says otherwise is either misguided or a deception.

The United States of America (U.S.A. or USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S. or US) or America, is a transcontinental country located primarily in a temperate climate in North America. It consists of 50 states, a federal district, five major unincorporated territories, nine minor outlying islands, and 326 Indian reservations. It is the third-largest country by total area and fourth-largest by land area.  It is the fourth largest by forest area.  It is the eighth largest by coastline.  It is the third largest by population.  It is the third most populous country in the world.  It has the 143rd highest birthrate.  It has the 191st smallest debt per capita.  The United States shares land borders with Canada to its north and with Mexico to its south. It has maritime borders with the Bahamas, Cuba, Russia, and other nations.  The national capital is Washington, D.C. It is rich in heritage and natural resources. It has the oldest written constitution, and it has represented the hopes and dreams of countless people for four centuries.
